Adding Text Book Resources to Your Library System

Textbooks are obviously a very important resource for a school, so keeping track of who has them is essential. The 'Text Book' resource type is used to catalogue these resources so you can easily identify and separate text books from other resources. Being catalogued under a separate resource type will also allow you to set different restrictions. For example, you may set a longer loan period for textbooks to benefit students studying for exams.

From the New Resource screen, click on the 'Text Book' icon.

Add the barcode and the ISBN if it has one and click 'Continue'.

Once the resource record card appears, click in each field and add information as required. Some of the boxes will allow you to select from a list of previously entered information, the rest are free type fields.

Text books are often catalogued in large quantities. To save time with this process, catalogue the first copy manually and then use the 'Copy' function to add the rest.

Click 'Save' to add this resource to the system.

Once you have added your resources, you can set any specific restrictions required for this resource type.
