Invalid Duplicates Error in Connect When Importing From SIMS

Connect is failing, the log file shows 'Invalid Duplicates in Students(ID)'.

This error occurs when the software detects accounts in SIMS that have the same 'Primary Key ID' (ID shown in the error message).

Finding the Student

While in the Xporter Management Console, on the Groupcall server, go to the 'Log' in the left-hand menu and select 'MLS-Eclipse'. In here, the above error will show, and will contain pairs of numbers, split by hyphens (0000-0000, for example).

Copy one half of one of these numbers, then search for it in SIMS, encasing it in curly brackets {0000}. Running this search will show the record which has duplicate information. This can be repeated for each pair as needed.

Validate Memberships

You can perform a Validate Memberships action to correct a lot of membership related issues, and this can often fix this error.

  • Go to SIMS .NET
  • Select 'Tools'
  • Select 'Validate Memberships'

Tidy and Merge Addresses

You will need to perform a SIMS Tidy and Merge Addresses maintenance task.
  • Go to SIMS .NET
  • Select 'Tools'
  • Select 'Housekeeping'
  • Select 'Bulk Address Tools'
  • Select 'Tidy and Merge Addresses'

Delete Unlinked Contacts

Guardians can become orphaned in SIMS .NET which makes it seem as though they are duplicated. SIMS .NET support have suggested doing the following task.
  • Go to SIMS .NET
  • Select 'Tools'
  • Select 'Housekeeping'
  • Select 'Delete un-linked contacts'

Xporter Management Console

  • Load the Xporter management console.
  • Select 'Jobs' on the left-hand side.
  • Right-click 'MLS-Eclipse' from the middle.
  • Select 'Reset Changes'.
  • Wait approximately 30 seconds.
  • Repeat and select 'Run job Now'.
The job will now run through and import all borrowers into the library system.

If after running through the above you are still getting the issue, please contact SIMS support as there is nothing more we can do to assist. Make sure to provide them with the ID's from the error, as per the first step above.
