Invalid Duplicates Error in Connect When Using ISAMS

Connect is failing and the log file shows 'Invalid Duplicates in Students(ID)'. The error can be followed by a single number or a group of numbers, each number is a new searchable Student ID on iSAMS. This error occurs when the student has more than one 'home' address selected. This can be for either the student record or for any attached contact records for that student (guardians).

Please note, on iSAMS you can select 'home' for an attached contact that consists of only a phone number. So it is imperative that you check all attached contact's details.

 

Resolving the Issue

You can locate the borrower causing the duplicate error by searching in iSAMS. The error on the Xporter Management Console will contain a numeric code, which can be typed into the 'Student ID' field in the iSAMS search.

To resolve the issue with this borrower, load their record and go to the 'Contacts' tab. Within these contacts, ensure that only one is set to be the student's 'Home' record. This is set with a tick box within the contact record itself.

  • Once all borrowers have been corrected, load the Xporter management console.
  • Select 'Jobs' on the left-hand side. 
  • Right click 'MLS-Eclipse' from the middle.
  • Select 'Reset Changes'.
  • Accept any prompts, then close the console.

The job will then run through overnight and import all borrowers into the library system.
