Password Complexity

Altering the settings on the 'Complexity' tab of Password Manager allows you to set a minimum complexity level for borrower's passwords. This means that when a borrower or user changes their password, they must meet this minimum level of complexity in order for it to be successful.

The settings are broken down into two separate sections 'Borrower' and 'User'. The three options of complexity are the same (Weak, Strong, Complex) but the levels can be set differently for each.

Borrower

The settings under 'Borrower' apply to any account added to the Borrowers table. These are the users who log on to the front end of the library system to reserve items, write book reviews, view their past loans etc.

User

The 'User' settings apply to built-in accounts that have been created from User Manager These accounts are not for borrowing resources they are used to allow access to Management.

Password Complexity Levels

For all user accounts and any borrower accounts with access to management, we advise a complex level for the passwords.

To set a specific complexity, first tick the box for whichever group you are setting the level for.

Next, choose a complexity to assign.

Use the key to help decide what level of complexity to apply.

You could also use a special character in passwords to increase them to a fourth level of very complex.

Click 'OK' to save the changes.
