Banning Borrowers

Purpose

To detail how the Banned function can be used to stop a borrower from being able to take out resources.

Covers: Banning a borrower

Does not cover: Restriction groups, removing a borrower record

Instructions

To stop a borrower from using the library system and from borrowing books, you can individually ban them.

  • Log into the Management section of the library system and select 'Borrowers' from the left menu.
  • Find the borrower you would like to ban either by searching or by looking through the pages in the Borrower table
  • Once found, click to highlight them and then click 'Edit' from the right menu.
  • When the borrower's record card has opened, click the 'Advanced' tab then tick 'Banned'. This option is found under the 'Restrictions' header.
  • Once ticked, click 'Save' to retain these changes.

This borrower will now be banned from logging into the library system and from borrowing resources in Circulate.
