Hampshire SLS and Hambase

Hampshire SLS are the School Library Service for the Hampshire area. We work with them to provide a service called Hambase.

Hambase is a subscription based facility, for downloading data from the Hampshire Schools Library Service (SLS) database of more than 100,000 resources.

Instead of having to type in all the details of resources on loan or purchased through the Hampshire SLS. Upon subscription and activation, simply catalogue the resources provided by Hampshire SLS and the details will automatically be populated on the resource record card.

Importing Hambase

Hampshire and Southampton SLS subscribed customers can import the Hambase automatically through the Scheduler in Management.

Log into your library system as an Administrator or Librarian user then open Management. Click on the 'Schedule' option under 'Tools' on the right-hand side.

When in the Scheduler, click on the Pencil Icon in line with 'Catalogue Enrichment'.

In the Catalogue Enrichment window, ensure Import Hambase is ticked along with any other options you wish to import/update.

Once any settings you wish to import have been set, press the “OK” button then click the green 'Run Now' arrow. Be aware this is a large task and may cause your system to slow down drastically. We advise running it out of hours to prevent any interruption to your day.

To schedule this so it updates automatically on a weekly, fortnightly, or monthly basis, click the Clock Icon and schedule the task. Scheduled tasks will run automatically ensuring this is regularly kept up to date.
