Interface Options
You can assign one of the following interfaces to each site:
- Junior Interface: Colourful and simplified, for younger children.
- Senior Interface (Reading Cloud): Advanced functionality and layout for older students.
- Junior Classic Interface: The original Junior Interface.
- The interfaces available depend on your school's license.

What are Sites?
Sites act as separate environments within your Reading Cloud setup. They help you manage access and tailor the interface and content for specific user groups — such as a Junior and a Secondary School within the same institution. Each site can be configured with:
- A name and interface
- A custom description
- A logo
- Optional fields like location number or barcode range
Configuring Sites in the Admin Area
To configure sites you will need to be logged in with Administrator access, then click the settings cog in the top right corner next to My Account, then select 'General' followed by 'Site Interfaces'
To configure a site:
1. Select an existing site or 'add' a new site.
2. Choose the Group (e.g. Junior), enter the Site Name, and select the interface e.g. classic or Reading Cloud.
3. Add a description - this will appear with the name on the site selector screen.
4. Upload a logo to visually distinguish the site for users.
5. Click save. Ensure that each site is configured correctly to avoid login or navigation issues.
Site Selector Screen in the Junior Interface:
- Users see a visual list of sites with descriptions and a 'Select' button.
- No page reload needed — the experience is smooth and friendly for younger users.
Site Selector Screen in the Senior Interface:
The Reading Cloud & Junior interface now include the same visual site selector, unifying the experience across interfaces.
Each site has a direct access link using the following format: https://yourlibrary.readingcloud.net/?site=sitename Use this for school websites, bookmarks, or QR codes. Just replace 'sitename' with the actual name used in the admin setup.
Domain & Login Considerations
Junior Librarian is now available on https://junior.readingcloud.net
As a result - logging into one interface allows logging onto both interfaces automatically (license permitting)
Users will seamlessly be logged on, after first logon and transferring between interfaces.
If you are experiencing login issues when transferring between interface then check the URL you are using to access your Junior Librarian system ensuring it is the U number address - for more information see this link : What is my hosted Site Address
Returning to Site selector
In the Junior interface, users can return to the site selection screen by clicking the site name. See the example below at the top right where it says Sunnydale Junior:
This allows quick switching between sites without needing to reload the page — a smoother and more intuitive experience.
Best Practice for Schools
- Double-check site configurations for accuracy.
- Add descriptive names and logos to help users recognise their site.
- Communicate the login behaviour across domains to staff and students.
- Use direct URLs (web addresses) to simplify login.
Each site created will have its own visibility for both Borrowers and Resources. The links below show how to allocate each set of items to its own specific site:

Best URL to use to access Junior Librarian
Secondly, before we go live with the change towards the end of June ensure your proxy and firewall has been updated either just add the exception *.readingcloud.net on port 80/443 or explicitly allowing https://junior.readingcloud.net.
