Getting Students from Your School System

Purpose

This article explains how to export student data from your school’s MIS for use in Reading Cloud.

Covers: Exporting CSV files from common MIS platforms; Generic export methods for other systems.

Does Not Cover: Importing CSVs into Reading Cloud; Removing or archiving old borrowers.

 

When to Do This

Start of academic year, before importing a CSV, moving tutor groups, or removing leavers.

Tips

- Make sure to include unique IDs (UPN/admission number/Student ID number).

- Use your current year's data only.

- Make sure to save securely for import.

- It is preferred to edit using Notepad as Excel can sometimes modify specific values.

Q: What do I do if my MIS isn’t listed?

A: If you MIS isn't included in the list above, you can use the Generic CSV Export Guide instead.

 

Q: How do I check my export worked?

A: You can open your CSV and confirm students details are correct.

 

Q: If I have Wonde, do I still export my student data?

A: No, unless you are troubleshooting intake sync.
