Importing your CSV

Tip: Streamline your student data management with Intake. Find out more here

Once you have a CSV, you can import it into your library system.

If you have not yet removed your leavers, do so now before importing your CSV.

Log into your library site. Click 'Manage Library' or 'Librarian Only'.

From the top menu, click 'Database' then 'Intake'.

The 'Intake' table will open. Click 'Import' in the right-hand menu.

The main Import box will open. Firstly, select an import definition (also known as a 'mapping file') from the supplied list. There will be several shown and each have their own formatting rules.

The file type you select should be chosen in accordance with the instructions that were used to create the CSV file. For instance, when following the SIMS instructions, you should choose the 'SIMS.net (quoted)' file type. If you used the Progresso, CMIS, iSAMS, RM Integris G2, SEEMIS, Pupil Asset, Arbor or Any other MIS instructions then select 'WBLS', do not select your management system.

Once selected, click 'Upload File'.

In the new window that opens, click 'Browse...'.

From the Windows dialog box that opens, select the CSV file and click 'Open'.

The window will close automatically when this has completed.

Once the 'Browse...' window has automatically closed, click 'Import' to begin importing the file.

This may take several minutes depending on the amount of records there are to process. Do not click import a second time, even if a progress bar does not appear, the file is uploading in the background. Clicking import a second time will import the CSV twice and your intake table will be full of duplicates.

When completed, a box showing the results of the import will display.

Click 'OK', the import is now complete.
